Ortanique

It was found in Jamaica. It´s origin is not well known although it is thought to be a hibrid of tangerin and sweet orange. It was introduced in Spain in 1971. The tree is big and very productive.
The fruit is big with an intense orange colour and a lot of juice. It is seedles although they can appear due to cross pollination. Abouve all in trees near compatible plantations.
It can be picked from Febrary and the fruit will stay on the tree in good conditions for a long time. The big problem with this variety is that they are difficult to peel.
